On the Yarrow in July

This is kind of a strange plant for bees. It’s got such depth and texture for photos and I love to shoot on it, but it seems to throw pollen in a very small window of time so I don’t get too many days to shoot on it. That said, the flies (hover and many others) seem to think it a great place to be – whether it’s throwing pollen or not. So I’ve got lots of fly pictures on the plant. But it’s a neat one. And the color varies from year to year as pollination occurs.

She’s a cute one today. Good look at her pollen basket just starting to fill.

In other news, I’ve got a start on the gallery site (go to emmisoure.gallery to check it out). AND…there’s an incredible piece of bee art featured there that I think you’ll enjoy seeing!
