Just a Bumble on a Sunflower

Bumblebee (Bombus something?) on a Volunteer Sunflower

Mercifully short post today. It’s a dirty-faced bumblebee on a volunteer sunflower. I never know where the flowers are going to come up, but they’re a welcome addition to our gardens in the late summer. And the bees and other pollinators love them.

  1. Lovely pic of a bumblebee that’s chosen an accessory flower to match it’s own colorful wardrobe. Can’t help but notice the goggle-like compound eyes that adds to the cool look!

  2. Thanks. They’re just beautiful. And the bumbles seem to love the sunflowers. A golden bumble is tomorrow’s bee. And a close-up of hairy, compound eyes is a couple of days out.

They’re such remarkable creatures. And, to me at least, gorgeous.
