Shot yesterday – with the bee looking for (and finding) water in a pile of decomposing leaves. Have been watching that pile of leafmuck for a few days and there are always bees in/on it drinking. Even though there are several other water sources nearby (by design), they seem to be especially drawn to this one. Go figure. But the point of today’s post is this: If you want to attract bees and other pollinating insects, provide access to water. Ancillary point: If you’re terrible about finishing fall cleanup, maybe the presence of bees might mitigate conscience – if only a bit.
